Ways To Eat More Dark Chocolate And Feel Good About It…

Eat eat more more and more dark chocolate…? Yes you heard it right ;). Quality dark chocolate contains fiber , iron, magnesium and antioxidants making it the perfect heart healthy food.
It improves blood flow and lowers blood pressure, overall lowering the risk of heart diseases. With all the health benefits it’s a no brainer that somehow you need to work dark chocolate into your diet. Off course you cant just go nuts with chocolate. While a large serving contains lots of good vitamins, it also had lots of calories and sugar,so be mindful that you add it into your day moderation.

And sure, you could just pop a square of dark chocolate in your mouth and call it a day…but here are some different ways to add dark chocolate into your diet, especially if you aren’t a fan of bitter taste.

With Fruits : Chocolate with fruit is a time honoured girl’s night go to that wont let you down. Melt a little dark chocolate and drizzle it over strawberries, blueberries, banana, cherries and etc… Try dipping half of the fruit pieces into the chocolate and freezing it for treat. Sprinkle chopped nut over it for some protein ( Unless you’re allergic to nuts don’t do it) & you have a great healthy snack and your dark chocolate fix ;)…

With Veggies : I know it sounds weird, but its kind of like peanut butter and celery. You put something really awesome with something not awesome and suddenly its you favourite snack ever. You’ll get the health benefits of the chocolate paired with the health benefits of your veggies and its doesn’t get much better than that… Be bold & give it a GO…

PopCorn : We always heard about salty and sweet yeah…? It’s the best combination around. Ditch the chocolate covered caramel and skipped straight to the chocolate. Drizzle melted dark chocolate on your popcorn for an isanely delicious treat .

In A Smoothie: Adding dark chocolate to your smoothie won’t necessarily make it chocolate flavored, although you certainly could do so. Add whatever flavor you fancy and reap the benefits of having the antioxidants in your smoothie. Use dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet in this Chocolate Banana Protein Smoothie for a great start to your morning!

In Your Cereal : You can add dark chocolate flakes to your cold cereal or dark chocolate chips to your hot cereal. Either way, you add a little something to your traditional breakfast option while also getting the heart healthy benefits of dark chocolate.

Added To Your Baked Goods : Instead of semi-sweet chocolate chips in your cookies, muffins and brownies, try using dark chocolate. Try this Dark Chocolate Guinness Cake that calls for just two tablespoons of dark chocolate chips. ( Find the recipe of Dark Chocolate Guinness Cake in my blogs)

In Your Cereal : You can add dark chocolate flakes to your cold cereal or dark chocolate chips to your hot cereal. Either way, you add a little something to your traditional breakfast option while also getting the heart healthy benefits of dark chocolate.

Mixed Into Your Yogurt : Plain ol’ low-fat Greek yogurt isn’t the most satisfying taste to most people, but with a teaspoon of shaved dark chocolate, you can give that healthy snack a makeover and add a little something to make it yummy and heart healthy.

Covering  Your Nuts And Raisins : Opt for dark chocolate-covered raisins or nuts for a healthy addition to your favorite movie snack. Here are some more chocolate pairings that might seem weird but really enhance the flavor and wow your taste buds!

7 Healthy Habits For Longer Life!

Everytime we hear stories of people living up to 100 or even older motivates us to do the right things now. So we can be that person that outlives everyone else. You’re probably wondering what is the secret to live long.
If you want to beat the odds, check out some of these habits to practice for a longer life.

Don’t Smoke : Thank you Captain Obvious! Although all of us hear about this all the time, the value of the advice stays the same as the first time you heard it. If you smoke you can get lung, esophagus, kidney, bladder or stomach cancer! Smoking also increases your risk of a heart attack. When you quit smoking, you add years to your life because if you stop now, you  can prevent yourself from getting smoking realted diseases!

Drink In Moderation : Drinking is very tempting, especially  when you walk down the wine aisle at your local grocery store. You see all of these are great wines and your mind tells you to grab them all. Well, drinking isn’t actually bad for you when you do it in moderation. According to Health Magazine a study found in the journal of the America Cardiology suggests that if  you limit yourself to one glass of red wine a day, it can actually improve your heart health, but drinking too much can lead to heart failure.

Be Happy : Life can get you down sometimes, but having a positive outlook can give you the gift of longevity. A research study suggests that people who are happy tend to have 35% less chance of passing away over a 5 year period. Just being happy positively affects people who had chronic diseases as well. Exercise is a great activity that makes you happy because it releases endorphins. Another way to be happy is to look on the bright side of things. So show those pearly whites and be happy!

Get More Rest : This sounds easier said than done. Busy lives get in the way of sleep. You have to pack your kid’s lunch, take them to school, take a shower and actually have a bite to eat really quick before you rush to off somewhere else. By the end of the day you’re exhausted. Well,if exhaustion is calling your name just go to sleep! About 7 to 8 hours of sleep should do the trick. When you have enough sleep, you live a healthier life.

Exercise More : This probably sounds familiar to all of us here. Incorporating exercise into your lifestyle prevents diseases which gives you a longer life!  Exercising tacks years onto our life, especially when you’re over age 50. If you’re already active as you can possibly can. Start by jogging to the store or going on a walk with ur friends. The whole point is to move your body!

Eat Healthy : Foods like fruits and vegetables are very important to eat. Dark leafy vegetables like spinach and kale helps you to live longer. These leafy vegetables have vitamin K and C in them which is vital for your body. Veggies and fruits also ward off cancer. Fruits contains natural sugars, unlike the processed and refined sugars that cause Type 2 diabetes. Fruits and Veggies prevent more an 20% of all types cancer which is second leading causes to death in the world. So take the time out of your day to eat a bit healthier. Instead of eating a breakfast sandwich at your local fast food restaurant, go for some eggs and spinach instead.

Limit Your Time In The Sun : Let’s be honest here. The sun feels good. Just laying on the beach in your bikini makes you feel like you’re in heaven and the most enjoyable part of vacation is sitting in the sun with your book in hand, soaking up the moment. We all need some vitamin D, but too much sun exposure can increase your chance to get skin cancer. The hours between 10am and 4pm are the most dangerous times to be in the sun because that’s when the sun’s ultraviolet rays damage the most. Keep in mind that skin cancer is very preventable. In fact it’s the most preventable type of cancer out there. Make sure you don’t forget to prevent it by using a sunscreen and umbrella before going out. Just making the little changes to live long really makes a difference. You want to do everything you can now so you can be the healthiest you can be later… What’s your reason for taking care of yourself to ensure longevity? J
